Ed Caldwell is a former news executive, anchor, reporter, and award-winning multi-media producer, having worked for the likes of CNBC in global business and financial news. He has written and edited thousands of business stories for the wealthiest and best-educated audiences around the globe.
Langdon Ford Financial recognizes Ed’s expertise and passion for making a positive impact in the lives of his clients. Ed understands the importance in demystifying today’s economic challenges by relating it to every client’s unique “financial story”. In turn individuals and businesses gain a better grasp of their financial standings and long term confidence.
Ed’s calm and professional manner in the high-demand world of television news served him well especially through market turmoil and economic difficulties. In his role as financial advisor, he continues to value the importance of the three C’s of success: Communication, collaboration and creativity. Ed applies this philosophy when developing a tailored approach to wealth management. Clients are accustomed to proactive, in depth analysis, from retirement and insurance strategies, investment management consultation, to legacy protection.
Ed earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Notre Dame. He got an early start on his career by working his way through college at a local television and radio station. Upon graduation, he worked as a reporter and anchor at stations in the Midwest and in Buffalo, New York where he gained extensive international experience. He joined CNBC during its infancy, helping to create financial news programming aimed at leveling the playing field for investors increasingly responsible for charting their own financial well-being. Ed later served for many years as an Executive Producer for Bloomberg Television, where he helped bring financial news home to viewers on a global scale.
Among the honors he's received is the prestigious “Golden Wheel Award” presented annually by the Detroit Press Foundation for excellence in automotive journalism for a 2005 documentary he produced, “GM: Retooling an American Icon.” His 2008 documentary, “From Feast to Famine: Facts Behind the Global Food Crisis,” was adopted as a training tool by Catholic Relief Services for its 5,000 volunteers in more than 100 countries.
Ed has given numerous talks at universities and high schools aimed at promoting financial literacy. In addition, Ed actively participates in numerous volunteer efforts in his community, including St. Vincent De Paul Parish, in Stirling, NJ as well as the Father’s Club at Seton Hall Prep. He is also involved in fund raising at St. John Villa Academy in Staten Island, NY, and is a proud member of the Notre Dame Alumni Club of Central NJ.
Ed and his wife, Deborah, have two sons and reside in New Jersey.
